Sunshine and smiles a plenty

Match report from Sue Duxbury

"What an absolutely perfect day for cricket we had today! Wow! A massive well done to the girls who played today- you made us all so proud! You spoilt us with such an amazing display of cricket- 2 amazing wins from 2 matches! Both by large margins. The girls were bowling machines taking 8 wickets in the match against Holyport meaning they only needed to chase 3 runs as a target! So winning by 63 runs and 39 runs in their game against Kidmore end.

Some memories included: Orla finished the first game on the brink of a hatrick after taking 2 wickets in a row. Hazel hit 2 beautiful 4s in a row (and took a great wicket too). Anna threw herself around as wicket keeper saving countless runs… and with Simone did some exciting running between the wickets with some great big hitting. (And each took a wicket too.) Poppy lit up the wickets twice with her pacey bowling. Emily got a spectacular catch and bowled wicket (and another wicket too). An all round impressive performance from Myla and continued improved bowling from Phoebe with great running between wickets with Hazel"

The wonderful smells from the BBQ and coffee provided by James and the Todd’s as well as our famous girls playlist with cracking sunshine all morning made our home festival one to remember!

Thank you to Kidmore End and Holyport Girls Cricket Clubs for joining us on such a wonderful morning.

Thank you also to everyone who played, umpired, supported, cheered, cooked, bought all the girls BBQ food and made coffees! You all are much valued members of our special cricket club.
